What stage height should I choose?
Height follows from room depth and whether the audience is seated. In a flat room with a seated audience, 40 to 60 cm lets the middle rows see. Past fifteen rows, or with a standing audience, go to 80 cm or more. A taller stage also changes access: above a certain height, stairs with a handrail and guardrails become necessary.
What load does a stage deck support?
Stage decks are rated as distributed load per square metre, and the figure depends on the model and leg height. A standing crowd, a grand piano and a rolling cart do not stress the structure the same way: a heavy point load is checked separately from the distributed rating and may require reinforcement under the bearing point.
